General

The Dicenomicon is a fantasy role playing game dice rolling utility (that actually rolls dice). It supports a wide range of die shapes (including the common four, six, eight, ten, twelve, and twenty sided, plus the exotic fourteen, sixteen, eighteen, twenty-four and thirty-sided), as well as a wide range of labels, allowing the Dicenomicon to support not just the standard d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 and d100 (d%), but also the more exotic d1000, binomial "d1" (0-1), d2, d3, d5, d7, d9, d14, d15, d16, d18, d24 and d30, as well as specialty dice such as "averaging" dice and dice for FUDGE.

The Dicenomicon supports a "free form" mode, where you can add individual dice as needed, as well as manipulating the resulting rolls (allowing you to do things like "holding" certain dice and rerolling others). The Dicenomicon also supports a "formula" based moded where you enter specific dice specifications such as "36d + 5" and it will roll the dice and total the results.

There is also support for customing the appearance of dice (both in terms of what sort of "texture" they use, as well as what colors are used - either all in a single color, or a mix of them), as well as customing the background texture.

Main Screen

The main screen is divided into three areas - the main area where the dice are rolled, a top bar, and a bottom bar. The top bar includes controls for specifying the dice formula to use (either entering a specific formula, or using one of the fully customizable "bookmarked" formulas), and a status message that shows the roll total and other information. This top bar also contains a control to remove all the dice, as well as a way to get to the settings. If you tap on the text status message, a log of all the past rolls you've made (complete with time stamp) is shown - tap on it again to hide it. The log includes everything from the current session plus the last 200 entries from previous sessions.

The bottom bar controls the free form mode. There is a segmented control that indicates what die will be added when you tap on the middle play field area, and a control to switch to different sets of dice. There is also a control to reroll the dice (you can also shake your iPhone/iPod Touch to reroll, but this allows you to roll more discretely, or while the device is flat on a table). If you double tap the reroll button, it will automatically get the result of the roll, presented in a nice ordered fashion - a "quick roll" for those times when you don't need to watch it actually roll.
